Support Your Local Ski B.A.S.E. Jumpers: Old Tyrollia Bindings Needed
Nutty Squaw skiers Shane McConkey [video] and J.T. Holmes are out (again) in Europe doing more of their silly silly ski BASE jumps for Matchstick. As usual, they will ski off the side off a cliff, release their skis, and then pop the parachutes. To do this “safely”they need to be able to release the bindings by pulling rather than pushing.
The only kind of bindings that release by pulling up are the old 1980s Tyrollia’s. Typical model numbers were probably 2xx, 3xx, or 4xx (e.g., 490). (See inset picture).
Fortunately I’ve got about 16 pairs of skis in the “museum” and had a ‘couple of pair of 490s. Unfortunately, two pair were mounted on pure-breed non-de-laminated 1986-1987 Nishizawas — aqua blue/hot pink. Those are real gems and will be worth 100,000 someday
Couldn’t; sacrifice those. I even held on to some matching Zinka!
I did find a pair of old Dynastars and donated them to the worthy cause of creating more ski porn for my kids and I to watch. (We’d rather watch a good ski movie over Dora the Explorer any day.)
If you have a pair of the Tyrollia’s, leave a comment and I’ll email you how to get the binder’s in to the proper hands.

I think I have those tyrolia’s and I know I have that Rossi teal blue ski. circa 1986 for the ski and 1988 for the binding. Binding only been used probably 10 times since then. If you want them/need them contact me at 773.255.4613 and we can figure something out.

Yo… I have a pair of the 490 bindings… same style as in the picture (same colour too). They work and are in good shape… still on my rossi’s. They were my binding for like 5 years… I learned to ski with those bindings. I’d still use them but got a new pair with my skis. You still looking for some

I have an almost new set of Tyrolia 490 Bindings. I bought a new pair of Ski’s for my son when he was 12yrs old and he used it for a season to learn on at a very small local Ski Hill in Wilmot Wisconsin, at the start of the next season he fell and tore his knee and needed surgery, we then found that the Bindings were incorrect for his weight, the Ski’s never came off when he fell. I then had a set of Marker binding put on and the Tyrlia’s have been sitting here in the box for about 8 years.
Give me a call and make an offer 847 830 7219
They are Gray in front with a white stripe in the middle with Magenta (red) at the back, some people call the Magenta hot pink.
