I don’t think there is a threat to carriers and such. As many big business do, Apple used a scare tactic to frighten fence-sitters. Now, you only get die hards wanting to mess with hacking the phone. That about the best Apple can do. Although, Apple SHOULD find a breach of contract and open their phones up to ALL carriers!
I will soon be unlocking an iPhone if Apple makes a more capacious product - 20Gigs would win me over!
